This Czechoslovak-built Crate was commissioned in January 1960. It was first noted at this location in October 1994 in use as a bar. It is now in use as an advertising prop for the restaurant in the background.

Ballpoint tycoon Milton Reynolds took this Liberator Express to China hoping to prove that Mt. Amne Machin was higher than Mt. Everest. On take-off from Peking the aircraft was slightly damaged when its right main gear failed or was inadvertently retracted, as seen here. The party ran into problems with the authorities and escaped to Japan with the aircraft a few days later. This was allocated to the USAAF as C-87A 43-30570, but instead went to the US Navy as RY-1 BuNo 67798, in 1944. Became NL5151N in Feb 1948. This An-2 belongs to the local skydiving club and was parked out on the grass during my visit.

Since leaving the production line in March 1984, this An-2 has mainly been working in Lithuania. Initially as CCCP-17944 for the local Aeroflot division, followed by a few years with the air force in the mid-nineties, amidst various corporate jobs. Moved to the UK in 2010 to act as a 'Soviet' warbird and eventually registered in Poland in April 2015 to the biodiversity foundation operating a park in Belgium. Seen at various European airfields in 2022. The registration, also seen on the engine cover, is behind the wing from this angle.

Retired from British Airways service in 1985, and moved to Cranfield in February 1986 for ground instruction. It was broken up in 1995.

Ex CF-DTN, RCAF A675/1500. Subsequently moved to Bruntingthorpe, and beautifully restored to flying condition aided by spares from G-BKRG. It now flies in US Navy colours.

Appearing as part of the Classic Formation team with N223CM (blue striping), N21FS (red) and DC-3 N431HM.
