Just starting up the left land engine.

Built in 1943 as PV-1 33260 for the US Navy but diverted to the Royal Canadian Air Force as serial 2186. It served until August 1950 when it was struck off charge and stored until August 1955 when it returned to the USA as N75384. In 1957 it was converted as a Howard Super Ventura executive transport with the new registration N9060. There is an online photo of it at London Air Port in June 1958 to where it is said to have brought Howard Hughes for a business visit. It subsequently passed through the hands of numerous companies and was last reported stored at Yukon, OK., in 1980.

slide from Russell Brown. - Electra c/n 1129 was sold to Europe in 1991 and flew for Air Bridge, Hunting Cargo and Atlantic Airlines as G-FIJV. Retired at Coventry in 2007, it was broken up six years later.

Photographer: Al Rodriguez. K25 slide scan. Built 1960 as 15926 for RCAF, reserialled 1970 as 106926. Sold off by Beaver Enterprises to Aerotransportres Entre Rios as LV-JZR 1971. Aeronaves del Peru OB-R-1005 1975. VIC Air Cargo 9Q-CKQ 1982, stored Kinshasa Ndili 1983. Used for spares and subsequently scrapped.

Originally delivered to Pan American in October 1959 as N719PA "Clipper Windward", it was sold to British Midland Airways in March 1970 as G-AYBJ, but was mostly leased out by them to a whole host of mainly Asian and African carriers until withdrawn from use at East Midlands in December 1977. It was bought by Jet Power/MCA Leasing as N431MA and flown to Miami in the Spring of 1978, and again was leased out to a number of small airlines until it was withdraw from use at Sharjah, where it is believed to have been broken up in the 1990s.

Re-registered from N8207U to honour the airline's founder, Joseph Ciavardone. Ordered by Pan American-Grace Airways (PANAGRA) as N8275H, but leased to Pan American from May 1960 to May 1964 when returned to PANAGRA. After PANAGRA merged with Braniff in February 1967 it was sold to United Airlines as N8207U and served until sold in September 1976. After cargo conversion it was acquired by Conner Airlines who leased it to Concord Intl. in August 1977. It was returned to Conner in January 1981 and scrapped at MIA in December 1983. Ex-Avensa Convair 580 YV-53C, (note YV-63 behind), in temporary storage at Miami Intl. in November 1979. Later that month it went to Plymouth Leasing as N4806Q and converted to cargo configuration; re-registered N588PL it operated for a number of US and Canadian carriers and in August 1980, whilst operating for Interstate Airlines, it survived a wheels up landing on a foamed runway at Boston Logan after having an undercarriage problem. In April 1986 it was re-registered C-GNMQ with Nordair Metro returning to the US as N118GT in 1990, and is thought to have been scrapped at Detroit soon after.
