The Champion Lancer was designed as a low cost twin aimed at the training market. With fixed pitch propellers and non-retractable landing gear, single engine performance was lackluster. Delivered to the US Navy in November 1955, this Skywarrior participated in nuclear tests in the South Pacific. It ended it's Navy career after an accident JATO testing. Although repaired, it was retired to Litchfied Park (and later AMARC). The US Air Force retrieved the aircraft for use in landing barrier tests at Edwards AFB. After testing it remained there, stored at various locations on the base until Navy volunteers undertook a restoration in 2010. It was presented to the Edwards AFB Flight Test Museum in October 2011, on loan from National Naval Aviation Museum.
