The Ca.101 was a small trimotor used mainly by the Italian air force. I-ABCQ flew with a company from Milan, La Voce del Cielo (The Voice from Heaven), with four large loudspeakers mounted downward in the cabin and driven by four underwing generators. Patented by the Plane Speaker Co from the USA, the system was reportedly quite effective from altitudes of 3000 to 4000 feet. Whether used for Fascist propaganda or not, the aircraft is probably seen here during a July 1933 visit to the Netherlands where Verkade biscuits were advertised from the sky. Italian state visit to the Netherlands. The mayor of Rotterdam is waiting at the gangway of the tour boat Pieter Caland as the helicopter lands, with another one approaching. KLM's offshore helicopter branch was initially named KLM Noordzee Helikopters. Later taken over by Schreiner and CHC, the S-61Ns were the largest helicopters in the country for decades, serving for forty years. PH-NZC fatally crashed off Texel on 10 May 1974, however, due to rotor blade failure. Photo from: Nationaal Archief (Netherlands)

The Kangaroo was designed as a maritime reconnaissance and torpedo aircraft and, although only 20 examples were built, it was employed with some succes against U-boats in 1918. Blackburn subsidiary North Sea Aerial Navigation Co operated eight after the end of the war, converted to carry up to eight passengers. Three of these gave joyrides at the ELTA fair in Amsterdam in August and September 1919, taking an estimated 1400 people up in the air. The same construction number is given for G-EAIT so it may be incorrect. Photo from: Amsterdam City Archives
