In April 2002, whilst flying for Emerald Airways, G-ATMJ suffered an engine fire at Isle of Man and was retired thereafter.

Two years later, the name British Island Airways was reactivated; all four 1-11s were transferred to BIA again, G-CBIA lost its blue colours and was operated mainly on European charter routes.
