slide scan from the NK collection. - When Air UK was formed in 1980, British Island Airways brought four BAC 1-11s into the new airline; only this one, however, got the full blue Air UK colour scheme. Two years later, the name British Island Airways was reactivated; all four 1-11s were transferred to BIA again, G-CBIA lost its blue colours and was operated mainly on European charter routes.

This was photographed during the aircraft's second spell in BIA livery, after the company was reconstituted from the charter part of Air UK.

British Island Airways merged with Air Anglia in 1979 to form Air UK. They then formed a new British Island Airways in 1982 to operate charter flights which ceased operations in 1990. To Okada Air as 5N-AYW in 1989. Withdrawn from use at Benin City by 1997.

Not often seen in Europe but returned and later wore G-CBIA for British Island Airways and Air UK. On the threshold of Heathrow's 10R with the Perry Oaks sewage plant behind (which determined the runway pattern of Heathrow in 1944 and is now the site of Terminal 5)

This "Spey Jet" (titles on engine cowling) served Autair from March until November 1969 when it was sold on the formation of Court Line. The associate company (Clarksons Tours) 'C' is on the forward fuselage.
