Taken in the days when Heathrow only had Terminals 1, 2 and 3, and DID have a third runway. When there was a very strong South-Westerly wind, landings would use this 3rd short cross runway.

Delivered to TCA on 24 May 1961 and converted to a freighter (Cargoliner) in December 1966.

This DC-8 Jet Trader was with Air Canada from March 1964 - October 1984, although the last two years it was withdrawn from use and stored.

Every decade or so, it seems that Air Canada tries a different dedicated freighter aircraft. Before this 1967 ex-United Airlines 727 (and two sister ships), there were Bristol Freighters, Vanguards, DC-8s and DC-9s. The 727Fs were in the fleet from 1979 - 1981 and all three aircraft were sold to Interstaes Airlines.

First flying in 10.62, this was the first DC-8F Jet Trader to be built. Looking splendid in her red/black livery, like so many standard DC-8s she took up a secondary career in South America when sold to ARCA Colombia (although registered HI-459) in 6.85. After a lease to Andes as HC-BMC, to Zuliana as YV-460C in 10.89 and b/u MIA 9.98

Air Canada loved the DC-9, but this freighter was only around for a relatively short time. Originally delivered to Overseas National Airways November 11, 1967, Air Canada bought it in May 1973. AC sold it to Southern Airwaws in October 1977 to revert to it's original registration, N932F. Merged into North Central Airlines to form Republic, the DC-9 was again sold, this time to the US Navy. With Bu number 163036 it became the "City of Philadelphia" and was finally struck off strength July 15, 2003. It was moved to NAS Fort Worth in Texas for ground training.

This is a pure freight aircraft despite the retention of many windows in its fuselage. Operated by TCA/AC from April 1963 until December 1984.
