LAC's York undergoes heavy maintenance at their Blackpool Squires Gate base. It wears 'trooping serial' WW502 instead of its normal registration G-AHFH to permit operations through the Suez Canal Zone, where civilian aircraft were not allowed. Ex BSAAC and BOAC. Later to MEA as OD-ADA.

Hardly beautiful, the Beaufighter was developed from the Beaufort torpedo bomber. In WWII it was used at first as a night fighter at then as a long-range strike fighter, especially against Axis shipping.
