VH-SBT was sold in Canada as CF-XRI in 1968. TAA publicity photo after it took over Papua New Guinea internal air services and the Otter fleet from Qantas.

Very shiny and new, having first flown August 24, 1959. Built as a Viscount 816 for TAA but never delivered to them. Modified to V.836 in April 1960 and delivered to Union Carbide & Carbon as N40N the following month.

VH-TVC seen from the balcony of the former control tower that had become the TAA terminal at Sydney. The building still exists but now largely hidden by countless expansions of the terminal over the past 60 years. Qantas is the current tenant. To orientate those familiar with the airport in the 21st century, the international terminal now occupies most of the background.

Cootamundra's location midway on Sydney-Melbourne railway line made it the final stop on the 1934 UK-Australia air mail service. Flying mail direct to these major cities was seen as a threat to the railways, which were owned by the states and unionised. Butler Air Transport DH84s picked up the mail from Qantas at Charleville. The arrival of Empire flying boats on the route in 1938 ended Cootamundra's (and Charleville's) role.

After service with TAA it was sold to Keegan Aviation in the U.K. but never flew again. It was broken-up by Ali Ingots Ltd in February 1970. Here she is seen under tow at Southend after arrival back in the U.K.

When the aircraft arrived here in 1984, it carried USAAF markings used in a movie, but no trace of that is left in this photo. Instead the aircraft's former Trans Australia Airlines cheatline, titles and logos have re-appeared and can now clearly be seen.

Photographed by TAA over Westernport Bay, probably in December 1954 ahead of VH-TVC's entry into service on the 23rd of that month. TAA's first Viscount, VH-TVA, had been the intended star of its promotional material (using photos from Vickers) but it was written off in a fatal training accident on October 31 before entering service. -TVC arrived in Melbourne about the time the 2nd aircraft, VH-TVB, operated the airline's first Viscount service after a period of intense crew training. -TVC was destroyed on November 30, 1961 when it broke up in a storm over Botany Bay. It was with Ansett-ANA at the time.
