This was the last Shackleton Mk3 in RAF service, and was flown from St Mawgan to Henlow on 23 September 1971 to be preserved for the RAF Museum. It was however scrapped in July 1975 without ever going on display.

Delivered to the Royal Navy and transferred to the RAF in November 1978. Became 8998M and preserved on the gate at RAF Leuchars. It's now back in its Royal Navy livery with the Ulster Aviation Society.
