One of the exhibits of the interesting Fliegerhorstmuseum Leipheim is this replica of a German Air Force Messerschmitt Bf109. The museum has the goal of keeping the history of Leipheim Air Base from 1935 to 2009 in the public's memory.

A German-built Bf109 is preserved with the Deutsches Museum in Munich. This example served with the Spanish Air Force as C.4E-106, not to be mixed up with Spanish built HA1112 C.4K-106, which is also still in existence in Germany! This 109 was built in 1938 under licence by Erla Maschinenwerk GmbH in Leipzig. It is one of about forty Emils sent in 1939 to Spain to fight with the Condor Legion alongside the Nationalists.

Inside the hangar at Fantasy of Flight. The DB-605A has been attached to the fuselage of White 20 under restoration, painted with the red Reichsverteidigung band of JG 1 on the fuselage.

On display since 1978 at RAF Museum Hendon in the markings of I./JG 51. This Emil was built in Sep 1940 at Erla Maschinenwerk in Leipzig. The E-4 had 20 mm MG FFs mounted as standard in the wings to replace the engine-mounted 20 mm cannon. This E-4/B was field-modified with an ETC ventral fuselage rack to serve as a Jabo that could carry one SC 250 bomb. It was bounced by Spitfires from No. 66 Sqn. on 27 Nov 1940, forcing Lt. Wolfgang Teumer of 2./JG 51 to make a wheels-up landing at RAF Manston. The captured Emil was repaired and used for demonstration flights at RAF units.

The base for this aircraft is a German Bf109, which identity is shown here. This Bf-109 was built in Erla, and shot down on 21 November 1944. The frame was recovered in November 1997 and after an extensive restoration, including the original DB 605A motor, is now airworthy with the Hangar 10 collection at Heringsdorf.

Built in 1942 in Germany by Erla Maschinenwerk. Crash-landed near Murmansk in August 1942 after aerial combat. After war crudely restored for display in a Soviet museum. In the mid-1990s acquired by Aero Vintage Ltd., a British restoration organization, and refinished in its original colours, leaving original bullet holes. Acquired through exchange in 1999 for one of the Museum's two Messerschmitt Me 163B Komet rocket fighters.

Built as a Bf-109G-6 in 1942, this aircraft is recorded as serving the Bulgarian AF as 610824 then the Yugoslav AF as 9964 before remanufacture as a Bf-109G-14/U4 in Vienna in 1944. Operating as 'Black 2' with II./JG52 in 1945, it was captured at Neubiberg in May and shipped to the US as FE-124 then T2-124. Moved to Freeman Filed, IN in 1946, it was used for displays. In the late 1960s restoration began in California with the wings of a Czech Avia S-199. Transferred to the UK then Evergreen at McMinnville, OR, in 1990 it was registered as N109MS and converted to Bf-109G-10 spec. Loaned in 1999

This Bf109E of unspecified sub-type was brought down during the Battle of Britain. It was shipped to Australia to assist in air crew recruitment and raise war bonds. 0750, which was built by Erla, was transported to many places in Victoria and Tasmania, suffering vandalism and damage along the way. Switzerland purchased 80 Bf-109s in 1938, they soldiered on to defend the Swiss neutrality throughout WW2 alongside the D-3801 which was, ironically, one of the main opponents of the 109 during the Battle of France (in its French version MS 406)!

This Messerschmitt 109 ditched after an engine fire North West of Egersund during a post maintenance test flight on 11 October 1943. After 45 years on the seabed, a large part of the airframe was brought ashore by the shrimp trawler Luma on the night of December 16, 1988. During the year 1989 a long restauration proces was started by the Norsk Fly Historisk Museum which was completed in 2020.

Little is known about this Bf109 captured by the Australians. It was used by 3 Squadron as a hack, hence the serial HK849. This is not an official RAF or RAAF serial.
