The one and only Sopwith Wallaby was built to win the prize for the first UK-Australia flight. It departed in October 1919 and made slow progress before crashing on Bali in April 1920. G-EAKS was shipped on to Australia and later registered G-AUDU. Accurate details of the landing ground at Bandar Abbas in 1920 are not known. It is said to have been 1.6 km NE of the city, and that is where we have placed our Map marker. Photo from: State Library of South Australia

Designer Richard Hardin with his Ace 300, completed in March 1931 at the manufacturer's 'Ace Airport, formerly Murphy Airport, at Telegraph Road and Atlantic Boulevard,' Los Angeles. The 'companion' Ace 500, NX953, was a tandem two-seater. Information from aviation historian John Underwood corrects confusion about the model numbers. Aerofiles is mistaken in linking these aircraft to the Aircraft Engineering Ace K-1 biplane, built in New York City in 1919. Photo from: Nationaal Archief (Netherlands)
