Sold in the US after the war ended. Canadian Aeroplanes was the government-owned former Curtiss factory at 1244 Dufferin Street. It is not clear if there was an airstrip at the factory. The factory occupied six acres and all photos of aircraft there were taken inside the building. Captions on those photos suggest the aircraft left the factory dismantled. The RFC had two training airfields a short distance to the factory. Library and Archives Canada

Ed Peterson built his own Bleriot monoplane. The aircraft was not able to fly on the day this photo was taken. Peterson persisted and in 1911 he flew it at Mission Island at the mouth of the Kam River. But the aircraft was underpowered and the flight reached only 50 feet and covered only half a kilometre. Having achieved his aim, Peterson gave up flying for other interests. Photo from: Ken Molson fonds - Ingenium

Built in 1947, this Beech D18 was originally registered N1846. It was re-registered N1847 by Mead Corporation in 1951 so they could transfer N1846 to their Lockheed 18. In 1955 the aircraft was modified with a Remmert-Werner Custom 18 conversion that included enlarged windows. Registered CF-LLF in 1959, it had a Volpar trigear conversion before pictured with Cowen's Air Transport. Later flown by Peninsula Air Service and Condor Aviation before moving to the USA as N8517Z in 1980. On December 13, 1974 the freighter crashed at Norfolk, VA when an engine lost power on approach.
