World War II US Army Air Force 42-92113 was sold via the Reconstruction Finance Corporation to Braniff International (NC59748) in November 1945. In their fleet until March 1959, the aircraft was sold to Transair becoming CF-LJS. Re-registered CF-TAU in 1961, the registration format changed to C-FTAU before going to Lambair in 1973. The registration lapsed in 1977 as it was being used for parts to keep Lambair's other DC-3s flying.

Delivered to the USAAF as 43-15652 in 1944. To the Royal Norwegian Air Force as 315652 in 1950 then to the Royal Danish Air Force as 68-688 in 1956. Later K-688. Painted as 315317 for the film a Bridge Too Far in 1976. To the Netherlands Air Force museum at Soesterberg-Kamp Zeist in 1982 and painted as X-5. Moved to the Nationaal Militair Museum and painted as T-443 in 2014.

This C-47 was obtained from the Yugoslav AF in 1989 by Nesu Air who intended using it for pleasure flights and has been preserved at this extraordinary transport and technology museum since 2001. Ex Yugoslav 71288 and previously N62DN, N622NU, N51080, N5108, N57779 and 42-92970

This C-47 served with the 9th AF in WW2 and took part in both the D-Day and Market Garden operations in 1944. Post-war, it was based in West Germany until 1954, when it was based at Rabat, Morocco before moving again to Wheelus AB, Libya in 1956. After further service in the USA, it was retired in 1964. It was relegated to the Aberdeen Proving Grounds for target use but survived this to be used by the US Army as a training aid for CH-54 helicopters. When it was no longer required for this role, it was saved and, in October 1986, flown as an underslung load to Dover for permanent preservation.

built as 42-101021 for the US Air Force. After the War to I-LALO, VP-PXP and ZS-EJK. Later to Air Botswana and w/o on 12 October 1982 when it hit a mountain near Hoedspruit. Fortunately there were no fatalities.

slide scan from the NK collection. - N2VM, built in 1944 and delivered to USAAF as 42-93805, is seen here after its airline service with Vero Monmouth Airlines, which ended in April 1975. The C-47 found a last operator with Air Pennsylvania in 1981 and flew in full their colours until being withdrawn at St. Thomas VI. Noted there in derelict condition in 1987, its reg was finally cancelled as late as 2011.
