One of two French Navy Dakota's from 56S visiting Luton on a training flight. This one is the former USAAF 42-23936 and operated during WWII in North Africa and Europe. Later going to CSA as OK-WDU until 1958. From 1958 to 1983 with the Aeronavale as 36. in 1983 to France as F-GEOM with Stellair and later Transvalair. To the UK in 1994 as G-DAKK with Classic Airways, South Coast Airways and Air Atlantique. In 2006 moved to storage at the Aviadrome in Lelystad. Currently with Classic Wings for restoration. Registration G-DAKK still current in 2024.

South Coast Airways titles faintly visible

Ex 42-23936 (USAAF), OK-WDU, OK-WZB, 23936 (US Navy), F-YGGC, F-GEOM. When the aircraft was flown to the Aviodrome in 2006, it was the intention to operate it for scenic flights. Unfortunately this plan could never be executed. After the 2011 bankruptcy of the Aviodrome, the aircraft was acquired by Classic Wings as a volunteer restoration project. Paperwork and financial issues proved too much of a hurdle and the aircraft was transported to the Warmuseum in Overloon (The Netherlands) in December 2017.

Pity it was a cloudy day! Ex Stellair aircraft, but still in their colours. Was registered to Compagnie Générale d'Aeronautique (CGA) on 9 March 1990. To Air Atlantique in Jul 94 and South Coast Airways in Apr 96, both as G-DAKK. Now in the War Museum at Overloon in The Netherlands. Note the c/n is displayed at the rear.
