On display at Gifu-Kakamigahara Air and Space Museum. As compared to A6M2 production models, several differences are visible in this replica of the prototype Zero that include a Sumitomo Hamilton constant speed two-blade propeller without spinner that would have been connected to a 780hp engine, no visible carburetor air intake in the cowling, a shallow oil cooling air intake under the engine and an antenna angled at 20 deg.

The 1912 Gage biplane in the NASM collection is referred to as the Fowler-Gage, in recognition of its owner and pilot, Robert G. Fowler. Beginning in October 1912, Fowler made numerous exhibition and passenger flights in California. He made his most famous flight in the airplane in 1913, flying ocean-to-ocean across Panama. With the Gage now on floats, Fowler started his Isthmus of Panama crossing with a takeoff from the Pacific side at 9:45 a.m. on April 27. Nevertheless, he completed the 83 km (52 mi) flight in one hour and 45 minutes. Full details: http://www.aviation-history.com/garber/vg

A free plane. FAI competition class: Hang glider class 2. The manufacturer developed and tested the Archaeopteryx in cooperation with the Zurich University of Applied Sciences as a hang glider. All airworthiness certificates were provided according to the German airworthiness requirements for aerodynamically controlled air sport devices up to 120 kg empty weight (LTF-L, formerly LFG). The Archaeopteryx does not need official approvals, there is no registration in the aircraft register. It is internationally recognized in deregulated classes.

C-47 fuselage stored at the Basler Turbo Conversions facility. Identification not certain, may also be c/n 34141. This and c/n 34386 were shipped to Basler for conversion to BT-67 in Sep 2001 and Aug 2003 respectively. But when conversion started they were found to be unsuitable, due to corrosion. There were replaced by other airframes, and Basler retained the two unsuitable ones.

This is a replica of the aircraft that won the 1914 Schneider Trophy race as number '3' and was flown by Howard Pixton at an average speed of 86.75 mph (139.6 km/h) along the coast at Monaco. After he completed the course he opened up the throttle and flew another two laps and achieved a speed of 92 mph (148 km/h), which set a new world record for seaplanes. Second of only 2 replicas of this type. Ordered 8 May 1911, the A-1 Triad was the Navy's first aircraft and one of the earliest hydroaeroplanes (floatplane). Built with retractable landing gear, the A-1 could operate from land, sea and air. The Navy used the A-1 for early training and aviation experiments, including the first attempted catapult launch
