Seen here on taxi out from the southern 'Z' apron on the regular JAL cargo run, this was the penultimate DC-8 built, delivered to JAL almost exactly ten years prior to this slide being taken. Sold in 10.83; after serving Zantop and CF Airfreight, in mid-2004 she became ST-UAA of United Arabian and after several more re-registrations, stored at CPT as ZS-YDB after Stars Away ceased ops in 11.12

One of my favourite types, taken during my first visit to Miami in the days when it really was the Mecca for propliner enthusiasts

Has to be one of the most spectacular airports in the world. I'd tried hard to secure a ride on the unique Turbo Porter but was told allocations between Cessna and Porter were not made until the day of flight, according to pax numbers. I was not disappointed...

Happened to be passing while an airshow (primarily a homebuild fly-in) was taking place and was pleased to see this Devon in superb condition in the Ashburton Aviation Museum hangar. I should have temporarily have moved that sign by the nosewheel though!

Very rare shot of Instone Air Line's newly acquired DC-6 being pushed back into the hangar for refurbishment, just after its ferry flight and still in its Yemen Airways colours with crudely scrubbed titles and logos still clearly visible. Delivered to Maritime Central in 1958, she first arrived in the UK later that year being registered G-APSA with Cunard Eagle. Saudi Arabian bought her in 1964 and donated to Yemen in 1971, where she became 4W-ABQ. Another DC-6 still survived (just) in a very derelict state at Sana'a.

Rare shot of the last seconds of the last flight by this particular Beverley, arriving on delivery to the Historic Aircraft Museum. Previously used by A&AEE for ULLA heavy drop trials. Sadly rusted away after museum failed and scrapped 4.89. Cockpit now at Newark. ATC quote from early Bev flight in French airspace: "We have contact, you appear to be followed by two objects" - "That's ok, it's our fins"
