This Catalina was delivered to the Dutch navy in 1943 as Y-79 and was later reserialled P-79. It served in Ceylon and in Indonesia until 1950. On 10 January 1953 it was delivered after intensive overhaul with its new serial P-217 to the Dutch naval air base on the island of Biak in Dutch New Guinea. There, it was withdrawn from use on 12 August 1957 and placed at the gate. This picture was taken in 1962, when Dutch New Guinea was handed over to Indonesia.

RCAF PBYs were ordered under contract CAN-78, designated by Consolidated as the Model 28-5MC for 'Canada' and 28-5AMC for 'amphibian'. Later, Boeing made the PBY at Vancouver with Consolidated-built hulls, and Canadian Vickers built them in Quebec. The RCAF named the flying boat as Canso. This aircraft built in Cartierville is a Canso A, equivalent to the PBY-5A. One of two Catalina VCs posthumously went to Canso A pilot Flt Lt D. Hornell for sinking U-1225.

ex BuNo 64017 eventually ended up in the Israeli air force museum at Hatzerim AB to represent an IDFAF machine.

This has had VSQ 7 badge on the nose since July 2018. On 29th May, this very nice historic plane left Dutch soil on her way to USA

Stored in San Juan, Puerto Rico, since circa 1998 as N7238Z. Sold to Rathmines Catalina Memorial Park Trust Australia in 2013. In 2020 work continues with the restoration of this aircraft. It is referred to by the Rathmines Catalina Association as "Our Girl".

Last operated by Haydn Air Charter (Norway), on lease from Avalon Aviation. Preserved at an air museum in Israel since 2006, painted as 3401 and in Israeli Defence Force colours.

This Catalina is displayed outdoors under a roof at Museum Pusat TNI-AU Dirgantara Mandala and carries the emblem of Skadron Udara 5, which had six of these aircraft based at Husein Sastranegara. This particular aircraft is not the real PB-501 but ex N1563M, which was shipped from California to the museum by Bruce Fenstermaker in exchange for salvage rights to collect WW2 Japanese aircraft on Babo Island.

Owned and operated by Robert J. Franks under the name of Flying Catalina Corp. Later became the Flying Turtle N222FT.

This aircraft is widely quoted, also officially, as CV-332, but this is not correct. It is in fact a composite aircraft constructed in 1950 by Aero Corp. (Atlanta, GA), using the fuselage of OA-10A 44-34085 c/n CV-596 (which is this aircraft's correct identity). But when in Sep 1950 it was officially registered as N1933M, it was given the fictitious c/n 332 (later changed to CV-332). Since then this error was copied for all its subsequent identities: TF-RVR, CF-FKV, F-WMKS, French Navy 32 and CC-CDT. C/n 332 was RAAF Catalina A24-16 (w/o 10 Apr 1943) and c/n CV-332 was USAAF OA-10A Catalina 44-33880 (w/o 18 May 1945). It seems very unlikely that any part of either aircraft was used in the construction of this Catalina.

This aircraft was preserved in the Bosbad Park, a holiday camp/childrens park.
