Bought by aircraft broker Lee Mansdorf Company in 1962, it was registered N9734Z. Sergio Tomassoni (who formed T & G Aviation along with William Grantham in 1973) acquired N9734Z in 1976. Converted to a fire bomber in 1977, it was operated by T & G 1977 - 95. Registered in Spain to Basaer Baquero Servicios Aereos as EC- 889 (EC-GGC in 1996), it was stored at Cordoba airport in 2000 and later preserved in the city.

26 Oct 1945: Left the production line as 44-35948 after WWII ended so it went directly to RFC at Kingman, AZ. 2/46: Registered NL67164. 1961: Registered as N1244. 1965: Registered N910H. 1968: Registered N161H. 1970: Grumman Ecosystems, for electronic survey work. 7/75: Conair Aviation Ltd, Abbotsford, BC with c/r C-GHLX. Converted to fire-tanker. 7/87: Air Spray, Alberta. 19 June '09: Champaign Aviation Museum, Grimes Field, Urbana, OH, as N381EC. When photo was taken it had become N381EC but the old registration had yet to be removed and the new one applied.

This aircraft is widely quoted, also officially, as CV-332, but this is not correct. It is in fact a composite aircraft constructed in 1950 by Aero Corp. (Atlanta, GA), using the fuselage of OA-10A 44-34085 c/n CV-596 (which is this aircraft's correct identity). But when in Sep 1950 it was officially registered as N1933M, it was given the fictitious c/n 332 (later changed to CV-332). Since then this error was copied for all its subsequent identities: TF-RVR, CF-FKV, F-WMKS, French Navy 32 and CC-CDT. C/n 332 was RAAF Catalina A24-16 (w/o 10 Apr 1943) and c/n CV-332 was USAAF OA-10A Catalina 44-33880 (w/o 18 May 1945). It seems very unlikely that any part of either aircraft was used in the construction of this Catalina.

After visiting us for the first time a week earlier, they came back for fuel on the return journey from Sweden to France. Truly amazing machines and a big thanks to the crew for allowing me to have a look inside.

A closer look at PELICAN32 (sporting "50 years" stickers) as it waits for its crew to return from the pre-flight preparations. They dropped in for fuel on their way from Marseille to Sweden. They were going to help the Swedish authorities fight a massive forest fire in the vicinity of Stockholm. Also note the pelican sticker on the nose.

The Sécurité Civile has arrived at Groningen again, on the way back from Stockholm to their homebase in Marseille. They spent a week up north battling a huge forest fire in the vicinity of Stockholm.
