In 1972 the 23 TFW took over the assets and personnel of the 4033rd TFW at England AFB to operate LTV A-7D Corsair IIs. With the "EL" tail code, in 1981 it was the first wing to receive the Republic A-10 Thunderbolt IIs. This pre-production A-10 finished as a ground trainer for the Air Force., later becoming part of the National Museum of the United States Air Force Loan Program. It's displayed by the England Economic & Industrial Development District at Flying Tiger Heritage Park.

Sold in 1992, it was re-registered N915MC to a private owner. The floatplane was written off in a crash at Lake Hood, AK on June 7, 2009 that was well documented on video. Rebuilt, the aircraft is current in Alaska registered N70JE at the time of upolading.

Leased to Texas International Airways (N15335) for a year and Southern Airways, it was sold to Finnair (OH-LYD) in 1971. This early Phantom II first flew in 1963 as what became the second development RF-4C. Bailed to McDonnell Aircraft, it flew development work for the manufacturer as well as GE Flight Test in 1966 for J79 engine testing. Returned to the Air Force in 1978 as a ground trainer, the aircraft was displayed at the Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum until it closed in 2015. The aircraft was transferred to the Regional Military Museum in Houma, LA in 2016.

This early Phantom II first flew in 1963 as what became the second development RF-4C. Bailed to McDonnell Aircraft, it flew development work for the manufacturer as well as GE Flight Test in 1966 for J79 engine testing. Returned to the Air Force in 1978 as a ground trainer, the aircraft was displayed at the Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum until it closed in 2015. The aircraft was transferred to the Regional Military Museum in Houma, LA in 2016.
