On 1 September 1969, this Su-9 arrived at Monino for display. The Su-9 has many similarities with the ground attack Su-7, but was solely used as a fighter. None of the around 1150 airframes built was ever exported, making it unlikely to encounter one outside the former USSR states.

The Lavochkin La-250 Anakonda was a high-altitude interceptor aircraft prototype developed in the Soviet Union in the 1950s. Test flights of the 5 prototypes were plagued by crashes caused by failures of the hydraulic boost system and landing gear as well as poor forward visibility (the latter was corrected with fitting of a new slightly "drooped" nose). The La-250A made 21 test flights in 1956-1958. The programme was terminated in 1959 and this aircraft arrived at Monino for display in 1967.

The Su-11 was an upgraded version of the Su-9, which had been developed in parallel with the Su-7 fighter bomber. Recognizing the Su-9's fundamental limitations, Sukhoi began work on the Su-11, which first flew in 1961 as the T-47 prototype. Sukhoi OKB considered the Su-11 to be a misfire, much inferior to the far more formidable Su-15 and only 108 were built. Bort 14 red may be the only one left in the world.

The Yak-25 originated from a need for long-range Interceptor aircraft to protect the USSR's northern and eastern territory. The specification for a two-seat, twin-engine jet fighter and a related reconnaissance aircraft was issued by Joseph Stalin on 6 August 1951. In 1961 a series of lightened YAk-25s were produced as high-altitude target drones. The Yak-25RV-I was used as a manned target for unarmed (no live fire) interception practice, the Yak-25RV-II as a remote-piloted drone.

The Myasishchev M-4 Molot was a four-engined strategic bomber manufactured by the Soviet Union in the 1950s to provide a Long Range Aviation bomber capable of attacking targets in North America. The 3M "Bison-B" was powered by four Dobrynin RD-7 turbojets, the 3MD was a cruise missile carrying aircraft for carrying the P-6, KSR or Kh-10 air to surface missiles, with only nine built in 1960, before production stopped. The MiG-15bis-ISh (Istrebitel Shturmovik - fighter, armored attacker), experimental attack variant with two wing-mounted beam-like pylons each capable of carrying two bombs in tandem or rocket launchers. The Su-7BKL was a development of the Su-7B, which required less runway for takeoff and landings. It featured rocket boosters to decrease takeoff time and distance, reducing the distance to 800m. In May 1989, the excellent collection at Monino added this Sopwith Triplane to its collection. It wears the Red Army roundel from 1917. This is one of only two genuine surviving Sopwith Triplanes. It is believed to have been built as N5486, which was supplied to the Russian government in 1917 for evaluation. Fitted with skis, it was later captured by the Bolshevists and used as a trainer in the Red Army. The airframe appears to be largely original, although the cowling and undercarriage are not.

A helicopter built by Yakovlev! Production of the Yak-24 was curtailed due to technical problems and only a few dozen were reportedly built. The need for a heavy transport helicopter was fulfilled by the successful Mil Mi-6. In March 1962 this helicopter was first repored at this excellent museum.

The Soviet Union did not develop a its own strategic bomber before the end of WW II. On four occasions during 1944 however, B-29s made emergency landings in Soviet territory after bombing Japan. Three repairable B-29s were flown to Moscow and delivered to the Tupolev OKB enabling reverse-engineered copies to be produced in less than two years. This example is on display at the Central Museum of the Air Forces at Monino since October 1958!

False marked 212 white, derived from its construction number, is in fact bort 01 red. The Lavochkin La-15 was an early Soviet jet fighter and a contemporary of the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15, and served from 1949-1953. Only 235 were built, as the Soviet leadership favoured the MiG-15bis. In September 1958, this La-15 was first reported at the excellent museum in Monino.
