VH-BRI was at Hamilton Island to mark to opening of the new airport, the first on a Great Barrier Reef island able to handle large aircraft. In the past holiday makers had to be shuttled to the island resorts in boats, light aircraft and the big Sikorskys.

VH-CZF was the last DC-9 delivered in the Ansett-ANA livery. That was July 1969. The next aircraft was painted in Ansett Airlines of Australia colours.

Brisbane is noted for it's spectacular summer storms and it makes for interesting photography.

VH-MMS flew with MacRobertson Miller Airlines in Western Australia from December 1959. By the time it was withdrawn from the West in January 1972 it had amassed 41,000 hours at a remarkable utilisation of 3400 hours a year. From 1972 to 1989 -MMS flew with Ansett's eastern Australian airlines, and clocked a further 29,000 hours at a more normal utilisation of 1700 hours a year. That was not to be the end of its career and from 1991 to 1994 it added a further 2000 hours in Peru as OB-1454. The former -MMS was scrapped in Chile with 72,020 hours in the log book.

VH-CZB taxies for take-off. The DC-9 was rugged, reliable and profitable for Australian airlines but its pressurisation on descent caused painful earache among susceptible passengers. TAA would install new pressurisation in the 1980s but Ansett opted instead for new 737-200s as part of a deal covering 727s and 767s as well.

This was originally built for Pelita Air Service but was not taken so it entered the Dutch Register as PH-EXZ on April 6 1982. Took its first flight on the 16th of April 1982. It entered the Australian Register on the 14th of July 1982 as VH-FKI it was named 'RMA Cyril Kleinig" on the 4th of December 1988 it was transferred to East West Airlines. on the 23rd Of August it was taken over by Ansett WA. on the 12th of February 2002 it was reregistered as VH-AHT it was later sold to AirQuarius Aviation in South Africe and registered ZS-JAV on the 25th of September 2002 other registrations PK-TWM.

Delivered to Ansett Airlines on the 17/05/82. as VH-CZW, Also Registered N188AW Flying for America West Airlines from the 30th of November 1986 and AP-BHB with Shaheen Air. from the 27th 0f November 2004

With Ansett from 1964 to 1986. VH-BRI was sold to the USA and took up the registration N16AZ It returned to Barrack Aviation in Australia in 1986 registered VH-BHO. Returned to Carson in April 1988 and sold to EP Aviation in 2010.

VH-INJ was converted from one of Ansett-ANA's own aircraft.

Having a spot of outdoor work performed while on dry lease from TAA. Scanned from a B&W 35mm negative purchased from the late John Hopton.

Built in 1986 and entered the Australian Regiter as VH-CZL to Ansett Airlines. Sold in the UK as G-CELB. It was withdrawn from service in 2003.

Entered the Australian Register as VH-RMV in November 1973. In November 1983 it was leased to Wien Air Alaska and entered the US Register as N275WC. It was sub-leased to Braniff in 1987. It was also registered YU-AKR on May the 10th of April 2002. It was leased to Transasian Air Express registration VH-TXH later to be changed to Trans Australian Air Express. Scrapped at Tullamarine in 2008.
