slide scan from the NK collection. - The Canadian Armed Forces operated two DHC-7s; they were based at Lahr in Germany. After six years of military service, aircraft c/n 12 was operated by Markair (N678MA), Conair and Trans Capital as C-FWYU. The last movement was noted in April 1997, when the aircraft returned to Toronto City airport after an assignment to the United Nations.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Canadian Air Force, 414 "Black Knights" Combat Support Squadron, based at 19 Wing, Comox, painted one of its Silver Star aircraft to reflect the squadron's heritage. This is one of the last operational T-Birds.

Attached to United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) as a communications aircraft, this flight was about to depart to JRS via AKR at a very early time in November. One of a number of CAF aircraft that provided a very efficient and reliable service between the various Capitals in the area at that time.

The prototype of the DHC-3 Otter, first flown in 1951 as CF-DYK-X, received an 'experimental' military serial but remained with the DHC factory and was used as a flying wind tunnel in 1957-58, carrying a DHC-4 Caribou model with an enormous vertical tail. Two seat Freedom Fighter pictured in the last "Ghost" aggressor color scheme that was later adopted for all CF-116s in their final years of service. 116819 was lost on the Cold Lake Weapons Range January 10, 1992 when it hit the ground during a low level turn.

To Golden Hawks RCAF Station Trenton 14 Mar 1963. Active Reserve No. 6 Repair Depot Detachment Mountain View 11 Mar 1964. Strike off 20 Dec 1966. To Crown Assets Disposal Corp. Sold to City of Belleville ON. Preserved, displayed in Golden Hawks colours. Displayed in West Zwick's Island Park which is on the waterfront in Belleville, Ontario just west of the Belleville Bay Bridge. Belleville is 14 km east of Canadian Forces Base Trenton, a major RCAF base.

Nicely displayed Canadair built Freedom Fighter recently re-restored and now on a much nicer location at the airport
