An unusual, but not unwelcome visitor to our parts necessitated a nighttime visit to KCMH. Arriving from Bangor, ME (KBGR), left a little while later for Bismarck, ND (KBIS). Built in 1991, this was my first time seeing a BAe-146.

11/30: Rolled out as an Alpha; sold to Colonel C.M. Young, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Aeronautics, for his personal use checking airways and facilities; registered as NS-1. 1931: Ford Motor Company with c/r NC11Y then to National Air Transport. 1932: TWA; converted to Alpha 4. 1935 to 1946: Many owners. 5/46: Foster Hannaford of Winnetka, IL. 1971: EAA. 1974: National Air & Space Museum. 1974 to 1976: Restored.

Delivered on May 22, 1981, N512 was returned to the lessor and stored at Atlantic City, NJ in April 1982. Placed with Empire Airlines in June 1983, mergers followed; Piedmont Airlines in May 1986 (re-registered N495US in December 1988) and US Air in August 1998. Bought by Fokker (PH-ZCC) in 1996, the F-28 next flew for Mafira Air Charter (9M-AMZ) 1997 - 99 when leased to Pelangi Airways. Sold to Bali Air (PK-KFD) in June 2000, the aircraft last flew with Batavia Air (PK-YCM) from June 2002 until stored by 2005. It was broken up at Soekarno-Hatta International airport in Jakarta in May 2008.

Registered new on 23 December 2019. Operated by Airflite at Jandakot for the Air Force Cadets.

At San Bernardino Air Tanker Base. Wfu in 2012, and donated to the National Museum of Forest Service History in Missoula (MT) in May 2023.

Delivered to the USAAF as C-54D 42-72548 in 1945. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB with park code CC201 in 1970. To Aero Union as N4994H in 1978 then to Buffalo Airways as C-FBAA in 2001. Stored at Yellowknife by 2006.

With the Los Angeles County Fire Dept since 2008.

Ex US Navy Grumman S2F-1 Tracker (Bu.No.136658). WFU in 1981 and stored. Acquired by Conair in 1987 and converted to a Conair Firecat. Delivered to the Sécurité Civile as F-ZBDA in June 1987 (using ferry marks F-WEOK). Returned to Conair Sept.1991 for conversion to Turbo Firecat and redelivered as F-ZBDA in Sept.1992 (again using ferry marks F-WEOK for both ferry flights). Subsequently reregistered F-ZBAP.

Alameda Island once boasted two airports: San Francisco Bay Airdrome and Alameda Airport / Benton Field. Maddux used the latter and Pan Am had a flying boat terminal here from 1935 until 1939.
