This Canberra arrived here in 1990, when the museum was still named the Vallance By-Ways Collection. This former Emerald Airways aircraft was painted in these nice Janes Aviation colours in May 2008, and is the only aircraft ever to have worn them. It was operated on the airline's freight services only briefly during the summer of 2008. Withdrawn from use and stored at Blackpool in Oct 2008. Flown to Southend 2 Mar 2009 for continued storage and seen here as such, even though parked on Southend's active apron. Became N687AP in May 2011, destined for export to Kenya, but remained stored at Southend. Was still there by May 2017, but probably scrapped not much later.

Parked on Southend's operational apron. This Merlin went into service with Binair in December 2001, and was withdrawn from use by them 17 years later, in October 2018.

This is the former RAAF A10-603, which was withdrawn from use 30 Jun 2004. On 16 Feb 2005 it departed Australia for Southend, UK and arrived there on 20 Feb 2005. Stored at Southend until sold to the adjoining Skylark Hotel in Jul 2010. Lifted onto their site on 19 Jul 2010, together with sistership VH-AHL (ex RAAF A10-606). By 2017 both aircraft were in a very neglected state and partly overgrown, but both were still there by Feb 2021. Apologies for the poor view and the obtrusive wing, but no better angle was possible.

Stored at Southend with SAS tail logo and titles painted out, but still with "Operated by Transwede" titles. Sold as G-CDOE in Feb 2010, but did not return to service. Eventually stored at Bacau, Romania and registration cancelled 1 August 2014. Fate unknown.

Ex Royal Aircraft Establishment XW750, last flight as such 31 Jan 2005 and stored at Boscombe Down. To G-ASJT on 9 Jan 2007, then to N748D on 18 Jan 2007. Briefly served as an instructional airframe with Directions Finningley at Doncaster (the blue and green colours date back to that time), before it was flown to Southend 20 Dec 2008 for storage. This aircraft was dismantled there in the summer of 2009, and on 3 Nov 2009 it was trucked away to an unknown destination, fate unclear. Shortly after this photo was taken, registration N748D was allocated to another HS-748, c/n 1689.

Emerald Airways, and their pax transport brand Flyjem, ceased operations on 12 May 2006. G-JEMX was stored at Southend, and never flew again. It was broken up shortly after this photo was taken.

In fake markings, with a serial based on the aircraft's c/n. After years of storage at Avra Valley, AZ, this aircraft was flown to North Weald in late Sep 2002, together with C-54Q N44914 seen parked behind. Both were intended for use in a movie about the Berlin Airlift, but this project was cancelled and neither aircraft flew again. N31356 was eventually broken up here 13 years later, in early Dec 2015. Its forward fuselage was trucked out to the RAF Burtonwood Heritage Centre (part of the Gulliver's World theme park) near Warrington on 9 Dec 2015. N44914 was still at North Weald by Jun 2018.
