The 17 Buffaloes that the RAAF received were kept well away from the frontline and in the case of A51-13, operated by 25 Squadron for the defence of Perth. The surviving aircraft, including A51-13, were returned in June 1943 to the USAAF, which had officially taken control of all ex Dutch aircraft in Australia. The Buffaloes were scrapped at Brisbane.
