The former Bu No. 160754 joined the RAAF 27.5.78 seen here on a rare visit to the UK while with 10 Sqdn before the marks were toned down. On 26.4.91 she ditched in a lagoon in the Cocos Islands just off the beach. Attempts to drag the aircraft out of the water failed and the wreck was cut up and eventually dumped at sea, although Air Force personnel made several visits for about a year to retrieve parts. The nose was initially preserved on the islands and the tail became a memorial back at RAAF Edinburgh

Three VC-10s sharing Heathrow's 'Hotel' stands, just days before East African Airways was dissolved. First flying in 2.70, 5H-MOG was the last one built and was latterly the RAF 101 Sqdn's K.3 ZA150, scrapped in 2013. Note 5th engine pod. Behind is the penultimate one built, 5X-UVJ, which became ZA149 and coincidentally made the penultimate flight of the type into Dunsfold for the Brooklands Museum on 24.9.13 (my photos also on AH)

Nice to catch this superb exhibit in the sunshine outdoors. Built as a CC.1 and one of 39 Twin Pins which served with six RAF squadrons in the transport, supply dropping, photo survey and casualty evacuation roles (and even as a light bomber). Saw widespread active service in Aden from delivery to 78 Sqdn in 1958 till 1966 when she returned to the UK and now housed as part of the National Cold War Exhibition at Cosford
