Canada received eight CH-147s (CH-47Cs) from 1974, not counting one that crashed on its delivery flight. The seven survivors were sold to the Netherlands in 1993 and converted to CH-47D standard. Seen here with a British Gazelle, 147008 became D-666 in Dutch service. Canada took over some CH-47Ds from the US Army for duty in Afghanistan as CH-147Ds between 2008 and 2011. Then the first of 15 new CH-147Fs entered service in 2012. Photo from: Imperial War Museums

The Mi-14 is amphibious like the Sea King. Poland received twelve Mi-14PL anti-submarine warfare and five Mi-14PS rescue helicopters, this one in February 1984. In flight inland near Kutno on 10 May 1987 a map was blown out of the cockpit. Since it was classified, the crew initiated a landing to pick it up, but stalled the helo which was damaged beyond repair. Photo from: National Archives at College Park, Maryland

This photo is captioned Daly Waters 1940 but that cannot be the case. After just 9 months with ANA and the start of WW2, VH-ACB was leased to the RAAF as A30-4 and camouflaged. The lease ended in May 1940 and ANA markings reapplied. However the Douglas Aircraft logos applied to the nose and tail at the factory, and seen here, were not reapplied. The photo is at one of the south-eastern Australian airports served by ANA, most likely Essendon or Archerfield. ACB written off in a forced landing near Essendon on April 14, 1943. There was only one Lasconder built. It was powered by three Armstrong Siddeley Mongoose engines. VH-UMY was abandoned at Camooweal, Queensland around 1934. Where the photo was taken is not known but the Lasconder was in the Northern Territory in late 1930 and was used on a mail service from Camooweal to Daly Waters, Northern Territory, in 1933. It is likely it was it the Territory at other times too. Photo from: Library and Archives NT
