First flown in April 1961, the first of two prototypes. The type was heavily promoted in North America and production was planned for a batch of 25 aircraft to be built both at Argenteuil near Paris and at a new factory being constructed at Baldonnel in Ireland. Unfortunately orders were not forthcoming and although four further aircraft were built, two each of the Potez 841 and Potez 842, the company collapsed and was merged into Sud Aviation in 1967. Became F-BJSH following certification in September 1973.

The middle of three prototypes built by Bee Aviation Associates Inc. (Beecraft) , the Wee Bee built in 1948, Honey Bee built in 1952 and larger four seat Queen Bee built in 1960. None ever entered production and the Wee Bee and Queen Bee were destroyed in a fire at the San Diego Air & Space Museum in February 1978. The Honey Bee, which survived, was later displayed at the EAA Museum at Oshkosh before moving back to San Diego in 2004 and is still believed to be in storage at the museums Gillespie Field annex.
