Fitted with four Conway engines in 1956 as part of the Conway flight test programme, the aircraft crashed during a display at the RAF Syerston Battle of Britain At Home Day on 20th September 1958.

Some 9 years after its first flight in Sept. 1953 the 2nd prototype Vulcan appears to have been discarded.

Leads the Avro formation at the 1953 Farnborough Air Show with VX770 at the rear. The four surviving Avro 707 test aircraft act as escort to the two prototype bombers.
