The only time I ever saw a Javelin fly (other than in school athletics), XH897 of "A" Fighter Test Squadron A&AEE is seen here departing after static display at the 1971 Coltishall BoB Day. Now of course a well-known exhibit at Duxford. Taken with a borrowed 400mm of dubious quality, but a unique slide in my collection.

Early production Javelin FAW.1 demonstrating at the 1955 Farnbrough air show. Later served the A&AEE at Boscombe Down and latterly the RAE at Farnborough.

Ex 7809M. Wears the marks of No. 5 Squadron which flew the aircraft operationally.

Javelin FAW.4 preserved at the now closed RAF Colerne Museum. Allocated 7641M maintenance serial. Three H.P. Hastings are in the blister hangar.

Built by Gloster Aircraft as a Javelin FAW.7 in 1957, later being converted to FAW.9 standard. Latterly served No. 29 Squadron and it wears that unit's markings on its fin. Allocated 7972M.

Operated as a chase aircraft by 'A' Fighter Test Squadron of the A&AEE based at Boscombe Down. Exhibited at the 1971 Battle of Britain display at RAF Coltishall Norfolk.

This Javelin FAW.2 served 46 Squadron between August 1957 and June 1961. Here it retains their markings and code 'F' when displayed on the gate of 16 MU at RAF Stafford in 1971. Scrapped in 1994.
