A new Dakota for the database, ex 44-77224 went to the Royal Air Force as KP254 in June 1945, and proceeded to India and Ceylon (nowadays Sri Lanka) as 4R-ACI by Air Ceylon, which used it until 1978. To CR822 with the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) and first reported on display here in March 1993.

Painted to represent AC-47D 43-49010 which flew "Spooky" gunship missions from Udorn RTAFB with the 4th SOS in the late 1960s during the Vietnam War, this is really a C-47K allocated serial 44-76486. That aircraft was delivered directly to the USN as R3D-7 BuNo 39103 in March 1945, becoming a TC-47B in 1962. In 1965 it was transferred to the US Army as an NC-47D, retaining 39103 as serial. In 1971 modified to NEC-47H and later same year to C-47K, serving as an electronic test aircraft with an Army detachment at NAS Lakehurst. To Eglin in 1976 and remained. My 1979 photo here

Delivered to the USAAF as C-47A 42-92104 in 1943. Modified to a C-47D in 1967. To the El Salvador Air Force in 1970. Stored close to the museum collection at Ilopango.

As USAAF C-47A 42-24211 it served in North Africa and Europe before civilianised as F-BEFA in 1948, flying for CATA, Aigle Azur, Air Atlas, Air Maroc, Royal Air Maroc as CN-CCL and the Royal Moroccan Air Force as CN-ALM/20669. Sold to Euroworld California in 1978 as N54607, it was stored at Backbushe before sale to Keenair at Liverpool where it was again stored, until sale in 1989 to Cherkley Aviation as G-BPMP and ferried to Coventry. A planned full restoration was stalled and it was broken up in 1995, but its nose section lives on at the Luchtvaart Hobby Shop near Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

Last operational with 834TCW at Hurlburt Field, 43-49507 was the last C-47 in routine operation with the USAF, the aircraft was allocated to the Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson at the end of June 1975 and is displayed there at time of upload as 315213 a C-47A of the 91st Troop Carrier Squadron, 439th Troop Carrier Group, which was used to recover gliders used in the invasion of France on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

Two DC-3s arrived at Coventry during the spring of 1969, with the former Faroe Airways OY-DNC (rear) landing on March 8 as N4296, while N15751 (once G-AMPY with Irelfly) appeared on April 5. Together with Beech 18 N15750, these aircraft were expected to fly for an unknown locally-based operator, but following a fire on April 15 N4296 was used for spares before being broken up. N15751 was sold to Intra Airways in Jersey and restored as G-AMPY. She would return to Coventry in later years as part of the Air Atlantique Dakota fleet.

Rig Air flew in support of the North Sea oil and gas industry. It merged with Anglian Air Charter and Norfolk Airways c.1970 to form Air Anglia.
