Entered active service with RCAF as 662 in September 1943. Became 502 with the Muscat and Oman Air Force in July 1969. Sold to a private individual in Norway in September 1972 and operated by Bergen Air Transport as LN-TVA until October 1974 when it was stored pending sale. Overhauled and sold to Norwegian Overseas Airways in August 1975. Flown to Canada in October 1975 when this photo was taken on a fuel stop at Prestwick en route to Canada, next stop Iceland. Stored as LN-TVA at Winnipeg, MB between December 1975 and sometime in 1978. Cancelled from the Norwegian register 21 May 1979 and sold as C-GTSA, later HK-2666X and HK-26666.

Ex 42-24243, FL522, SAAF6810, ZS-DEF. Previously operated on the UK register by BEA and Cambrian Airways, it was acquired by Gibraltar Airways (trading as GibAir) 5th March 1963 and owned by that airline until 30th April 1970. GibAir used it mainly for services to Morocco and it was operating the Gibraltar-Tangier route when photographed. After C.of A. expiry 8th June 1973 it was WFU and finally scrapped at Lympne in August 1973. It was cancelled from the UK Register 5th December 1983 as PWFU.

At the first ever Air Tattoo. A little weather-worn. Became G-BLDI with Aces High in January 1984 and sold as N54NA in November 1984. Crashed near Independence, NY on 19 July 1995.

Seen at the Lewis Research Center at CLE in May, 1072. USAAF serial was 43-68086. Other registrations include N14MA, F-WZIG and RP-C1352.

Two years later, when operated by Stellair, F-BYCU crash landed en was damaged beyond repair.

Ex Pan American and here on delivery to Spantax where it became EC-AQB. Later to Aeroflete then withdrawn from use in 1974. At this period aircraft new to the register initially wore the letter 'W' in place of the 'A'. This only worked up to EC-AZZ without duplicating allocations which is probably why the EC-### system later came into use.

This interesting Dak clearly needs some attention after 40 years in the open air.

Started with the USAAF as 42-93189, then TWA as NC88823 and a host of other operators, mainly as N86U. Ferried from Arizona to Austria in March 1988 and sat unused at Wiener Neustadt before being moved to SZG by road on 29 June 1996. First seen with historic registration OE-LBC, an A321 since February 1996, in 2000 (or earlier?) while N86U was cancelled in November 2014. The First Austrian DC-3 Dakota Club logo has made way for her second name, "Edelweiß", just like it was worn by the original.

Sitting at the southern edge of the main apron, between hangar 2 and the original 1926 wooden terminal building. Both pieces of history are kept in excellent condition by the First Austrian DC-3 Dakota Club. Registration OE-LBC has been worn by an A321 since early 1996 but once was a genuine Austrian DC-3, also to be found at AirHistory. This one was registered N86U until November 2014, long after she last flew in 1988. The Douglas can be rented for parties and the likes, catering included.
