Delivered to RAF as KN452 in March 1945 serving in the Middle East, Gibraltar, Malta and Aden. Sold as G-AXJU in July 1969 and to the Kenya Police as 5Y-AKB in January 1970, serving until October 1974.

Painted as Netherlands Air Force "X-5", but never flew as such. The real X-5 was c/n 33323. The aircraft seen here is in fact ex Danish AF K-688, and before that it served with the Norwegian AF and the USAF. It was acquired by the museum in 1983, first painted as "ZU-5", and later as "X-5". It was removed from the museum in 2010 for restoration as "T-443" of the Netherlands East Indies Air Force. It is currently on display as such in the new Nationaal Militair Museum (NMM).

XA-ROM was stored for a long time at Guadalajara, Mexico. But was removed to make room for airport enlargements. The fuselage ended up in Atizapan just north of Mexico City, just outside the airport fence. Tail and wing sections were stored inside the hulk. A group of volunteers was planning to preserve the cockpit section. By late 2018 the fuselage was painted in bright colours.

Ex US Navy R4D/C-47 39103. Passed to US Army in 1959 retaining USN serial. On retirement it went to the USAF Museum who have loaned it to the Eglin Museum. Now presented as an AC-47 with dummy miniguns and painted as "AF43-010".

Saw service with the FAA and US Department of Agriculture. Believed scrapped. Registration cancelled in 2011.

Ex C-FLED

KLM served Leeuwarden, the capital of Friesland province, in 1938-39 and 1946-49. On 27 December 1947, captain Robinson and pilot Kroon aborted their landing here due to fog but hit the spire of a church which took off 3.5 metres (11 feet) of the left wing. Stored at Arlington since 1979. Restoration started in 1993, and this C-47 was then painted in these USAAF markings, with its original serial 43-15728. The name is only carried on the left side. As can be seen in this photo, by 2006 its condition left much to be desired. Despite that, it was still present at Arlington by mid 2018.
The aircraft still has multiple unusual vents in the fuselage roof and belly, dating back to its time with Amerine Turkey Breeding Farms in the 1960s, when it was used to transport large numbers of live birds. These produce a lot of heat and need appropriate ventilation to survive.

Feathering test. Aircraft entered in the Dutch register on 18 March 1938. Unloaded in Rotterdam on 18 April. Assembled by Fokker. Delivered to KLM on 25 April. Crashed near Schiphol on 14 November 1938 on a flight from Berlin - Tempelhof. Two of the fourteen passengers and four of the five crew were killed. Seen at then Webb AFB, Texas and assigned to 4412 CCTS at that time. Reportedly written off on 11 May 1973 when serving with the 817th Attack Squadron, VNAF.
