Built with a Griffon 66 engine in 1944, PS890 served the RAF in Singapore till transferred to the R Thai AF as U14-26/97 in 1954. Donated to the USA in 1962, it was placed into storage until rebuilt with a Shackleton contra-rotating Griffon engine to fly again in 2002 with Planes of Fame in California. In 2005 Christophe Jacquard acquired the Spitfire, modifying the engine and propeller configuration several times and basing it in Dijon-Darois, France. A take-off accident in 2017 led to some major restoration work, and PS890 resumed flights in August 2020.

Delivered in January 1945 to Canada's 430 Sqdn at Eindhoven, RM927 was one of few Griffon-powered Spitfires to have been engaged on the European front in combat and recce missions. On 9 March 1945 it was damaged by flak, but following storage it was passed to the Belgian AF in 1947, receiving serial SG-25 and code 3R-D, later I-QW. After accidental damage in 1952 it went back into storage and was retired in 1954. Passing from workshop to workshop, later intentions to rebuild it were stalled but restoration was eventually completed by Richard Grace at Sywell in 2021, G-SXIV being allocated.

This scene must have been a common sight during World War II, a Spitfire (replica) flying close formation and escort to an B-17 bomber (N9323Z, Sentimental Journey). A splendid display of the aircraft by their crews at the Goodyear Air Spectacular.

Built as JG668 in 1944 for the RAAF, shipped to Australia on 4 April 1944 and allocated the serial A58-441. It spent most of its short service life in storage. The fuselage was located in 1986 stored on a farm near Oakey in Queensland, and recovered for preservation. After several changes of ownership in Australia it was sold in the UK in 2004 and registered as G-CFGA on 5 January 2009 with the intention of returning it to airworthy condition. The fuselage and engine have been displayed in The Welsh Spitfire charity shop in Haverfordwest since 2016, while wings etc are constructed.

Flown by former RNLAF F-16 solo display pilot Ralph 'Sheikh' Aarts, the Spitfire visited Twente over the weekend for pilot proficiency training. The aircraft arrived at its new home base Eindhoven from the UK on 25 August 2021 and entered the Dutch register in February 2022. As the Dutch MoD allows no more than 15 annual movements for this bird at Eindhoven, it often operates from other fields. Backtracking runway 05 here for the return flight to Midden-Zeeland. Ahead of the pilot is the symbol of the Free French Forces and the civil registration can just be made out below the stabilo.

To add to her history already documented here, this Spitfire entered the Dutch civil register on 15 February 2022, initially with the RNLAF Historic Flight followed by the Spitfires Flying Vintage Everyday society. During her 80 (!) years, she has been dismantled and shipped many times and survived four damaging landing incidents. Converted into a two-seater for the second time, during repairs at Biggin Hill from 2016 to 2021. Coming in for a stop and go here, speed brakes fully deflected.
