After the B-25 Mitchell Doolittle raid on Tokyo in 1942 the US Navy decided it should have some B-25s of it's own that were subsequently designated PBJs. This aircraft, stored in the storage compound of the National Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola, is 44-29035 but painted in the markings of a PBJ-1D assigned to VMB-423 that crashed on the island of Vanuatu on 22 April 1944.

This B-25 was delivered to the USAAF as 43-28204 and subsequently retired to MASDC at DM. She was rescued from the desert and converted to a tanker as well as featuring in the filming of 'Catch-22' and 'Pearl Harbour' but now flies as 'Pacific Princess'.

After serving with the USAAF this B-25 had an interesting civilian career as N3507G. Firstly as a fire tanker and then owned (as a camera ship?) by Tallmanz Aviation with 'Catch-22' to her credits. Now she enjoys her retirement on display at the Grissom Air Museum.

VH-XXV was sold in the US as N6116X in March 1999.

This Mitchell is in fact 44-29366 and never saw active service, rather was used only for pilot training after WWII. Her good flying condition resulted in film roles such as 'Catch 22' and 'Hanover Street' before arriving at the RAF Museum in 1982.

Although marked as 43-27638, this aircraft is actually 44-29939.

This impressive Mitchell is an original aircraft of 18 squadron, Netherlands East Indies air force, based at Cililitan (Jakarta - Halim) in the late 1940s. She served in the Indonesian air force from 1950 till 1965 and was presented to the Dutch in 1970.

Delivered in August 1945 as TB-25J 45-8811, this aircraft became N9621C in 1958. As such it went through many owners, initially as a sprayer and later as a warbird, until coming to France in 1992 as F‑AZID. In January 2005 this Mitchell became HB-RDE and it is seen here shortly before returning to France as F-AZZU in June 2009. Unfortunately it suffered a major accident on 31 May 2011, when an engine fire forced it to make a wheels-up landing in a field near Villaroche, Melun, France. The B-25 sustained severe damage to the rear fuselage, left wing, and both engines, and its current status is unclear. Apologies for the obtrusive fences in the photo.

Performing in a simulated bomb run at the Valiant Air Command 1984 airshow, this B-25 was delivered to the USAAF as 45-8811. Became F-AZZU in June 2009 but was severely damaged in a belly landing on 31 May 2011. Fate unclear.
