Following the German invasion in the Netherlands, eight escaped Dutch navy T.VIIIws equipped No 320 (Dutch) Sqn for a few months. They flew anti-submarine patrols from Pembroke Dock, Wales - note the Sunderland. This machine, AV961, formerly R-7, was also used for a failed nocturnal mission to pick up four men from a Dutch lake. Production of the type continued for the Luftwaffe and it saw service in the Aegean, but was replaced by the Arado Ar 196 by September 1942. Photo from: Nederlands Instituut voor Militaire Historie

Only one Vista was built. After air tests proved unsatisfactory, the Vista was shipped to the RCAF flying boat base at Jericho Beach, Vancouver in 1930 for use as a taxiing trainer and to test the durability of its duralumin hull in saltwater. It was so badly corroded within a year it was scrapped. Photo from: Ken Molson fonds - Ingenium
