Whitehorse based Aerokon Aviation bought this Otter in April 1988 and flew it untitled with a color scheme that went back to it's time with the British Columbia government (1965 - 83). The aircraft crashed on take-off at Pelly Crossing airport, YT on May 29, 1990. With a full load of drill equipment, and one passenger, the Otter settled into trees when the flaps were retracted. The pilot and passenger survived with burns, but the aircraft was destroyed by post crash fire. DHC-3 C-FODW was brought in by the airline as a replacement.

Still in Labrador Airways livery, having been acquired by locally based Sowind Air. Built for the US Army in 1958 and imported by Labrador Airways in 1976. Sowind Air operated it until exported to the US in 1999. Current as N49AW with PZL turboprop engine in 2022.

Delivered new to the US Army in 1956 and imported into Canada in 1976. Here it sits high and dry at about the time Sabourin closed down. Later converted to turbo and Missinipe/SK based with Osprey Wings in 2023.

Delivered to the RCAF in 1954 (3685), this Otter spent more time stored or undergoing repair than flying for it's first 50 years. Withdrawn after an accident in 1970, it was rebuilt as CF-QOQ and sold to Labelle Touristair in 1971. After the first civil accident, the aircraft did not take to the air again until sold to Air North (1979 - 1983). After an accident at Glacier Lake in the Yukon, it moved back and forth across Canada slowly being re-built before emerging as a Texas Turbine Otter in 2006. The aircraft is current with Takeena Air Taxi (N565TA) at the time of uploading.

Built in 1955 as RCAF 3698. Still in the basic colours of its first civilian owners, the Province of Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources. Seen here at its Huron Air & Outfitters base on Mackenzie Lake, Armstrong Station, Ontario. Turbined with a Walter engine in the winter of 2002. In December 2003, damaged beyond repair in a sadly fatal ski-equipped takeoff accident at a strip overlooking Blackwater Lake near Jellicoe. Eighteen inches of fresh snow on the runway retarded the reaching of safe flying speed and the fully loaded aircraft crashed, penetrating thick ice.

Trans-Provincial acquired this Otter in 1970. Bought by Air BC in 1981, TPA would operate separately, flying with Air BC colors and TPA titles. In 1988 TPA became independent, changing their color scheme by reversing the red and blue colors on their aircraft. The airline ceased flying in 1993 and C-FKLC moved to Quebec, converted to a Vazar Turbine Otter circa 2003. In 2006 it was damaged in a ground collision. While being moved by helicopter, the aircraft detached from the sling. The wreck has changed hands several times and remains stored outside in Laval, QC as late as September 2022.

Delivered new in 1963 to Hudson Bay Air Transport and here with Tall Timber Aviation at its Bird River base. Based at La Ronge/SK (CJZ9) with Thunderbird Aviation in 2023.

Delivered new in 1956 to Wardair and here, much later, with ASA titles shortly after sale to Wildcountry Air of Red Lake. In 2000 it was converted to Vazar turbo and Vancouver based with Harbour Air in 2023.

Sitting at readiness outside the Government Offices at Lac du Bonnet, on duty with the Province of Manitoba Air Services. Fitted with a water-bombing system in the floats which allows skim and scoop refilling when fire fighting.

Delivered to the US Army in 1956 and operated with Green Airways from 1974 until it moved to a new owner at Pickle Lake/ON. The transfer took place on 14 Jul 1986 so likely up for sale here with titles removed. Cancelled on export as N88765 in 2017 and Alaska based in 2022. Seen here at the Green Airways dock.

DHC-3 Otter N5348G was delivered to the USN as 144674 in October 1956 and flown by VX-6 in Antarctica until retired in Sep 1996. Transferred to the Army National Guard as 0-4674.Retired in Sep 1977. To Civil Air Patrol as N5348G but never entered service. Sold to Red "S" Aircraft sales in Nov. 1978. It arrived in Renton, WA in the Spring of 1978. Modified by Clayton Scott's Jobmaster Inc. which added vertical fins to the top of the horizontal stabilizer to improve performance on floats. Built in 1958 for the US Army and registered as above in 1989. Exported as N103SY in 1997 and had a Walter turbine engine installed. Red Lake/ON based as C-GRRJ with Superior Airways in 2022.

DHC-3, msn 445, was delivered to Trans Provincial Air Carriers Ltd. in Terrace, BC in Aug. 1964. Changed name to Trans Provincial Airlines after buying two routes from PWA. TPA served forestry, mining, fishing and First National sites on the NW BC coast from bases at the Terrace, the Seal Cove seaplane base in Prince Rupert and Sandspit Airport. In June 1980 it was delivering groceries to an exploration camp on Crescent Inlet, about 55 km S of Sandspit, when the tide started to go out almost grounding the Otter! This inlet is now the northern boundary of the Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve.

DHC-3, c/n 21, delivered to Royal Norwegian Air Force in March 1954. To the United Nations Air Transport Force (UNATF) in the Congo as No. 304 in Aug. 1960. Deployed to UN Observation Mission in Yemen in Sep. 1974. Flew Yemen to Canada as N128F in 1964. To G.Rae MacLeod of Aero Leasing, YUL as CF-RNO. To Pacific Western Airlines, YVR in Apr 1968. To Trans Provincial Airlines in YXT in Aug 1968. When PWA added 737s in 1968 it sold its northern svcs to TPA. C-FRNO flew on fixed and amphibious floats on the northwest coast of BC with TPA (1968-93) and Harbour Air (1993-01). To DHC-3T in 2001.

De Havilland Canada kept this 1962 Otter as a demonstrator, initially wearing a yellow and blue color scheme on amphibious floats. A test aircraft and company taxi after DHC-3 production ended, the aircraft was sold to Austin Airways in 1978. It flew with Ignace Airways from December 1980 until it crashed on take off at McKenzie Lake, ON on October 10, 1987. Slowly rebuilt at Kuby's Aircraft at Kenora, it was registered to Slate Falls Airways in 1992. Converted to turbine power over the winter of 2004 / 2005, it's still current with Slate Falls Airways at the time of uploading.

DHC-3 C-FUJM was first seen at YVR in the summer 1978 and had West Coast Air titles by late August. Delivered to the US Army in 1956 as 55-3302. To Europe. Deployed by USAF C-124 to Congo in July 1960 to help rescue US citizens during civil war. To the United Nations Air Transport Force in the Congo as No. 402. Later in Yemen with UN in 1963. To US as N12655, then to Ben Ginter Construction in BC as CF-UJM in 1965. Op. by Trans-Mountain A/S when it crashed on Sep 24, 1971 at Forbidden Plateau on flight from Campbell River to Helen Mackenzie Lake. Stored for about 7 years before repaired.
