Blenheim I K7072 was converted to the Blenheim IV prototype with a longer nose and first flown as such on 24 September 1937. This photo is said to be from 1939 and we think it may have been taken in Canada where K7072 was sent as a pattern aircraft for the Canadian-built Bolingbroke. The Blenheim IV had been named Bolingbroke initially in Britain. Photo from: Life

Three-seat amphibious flying boat designed by Gilbert Trimmer. Rights were acquired by Commonwealth Aircraft from Kansas which produced one C-170 Trimmer with more powerful engines, NX41999 / NC41999. That airframe was eventually bought by Cornelius Biemond and then called the Biemond CB-1 Teal. This one can just be identified as the original prototype, NX41853. NZ1821 with the white fern roundel. It was short-lived and replaced with a silver fern frond because the silver fern is a symbol of New Zealand. The contrast between the red and silver was poor and eventually the RNZAF bowed to the inevitable and adopted the globally recognised symbol of NZ, the kiwi, for its roundels. There had been resistance to the kiwi on account of it being a flightless bird. Photo from: Air Force Museum of New Zealand
