42-92396 rolled out December 23, 1943 and was delivered to the RCAF as FZ635 on January 15, 1944. Quickly struck off strength post war on December 5, 1945, it was put into Trans Canada Airline service (CF-TDZ) that lasted from May 1946 to January 1961. Canada's Department of Transport then took it over (CF-DTV) and it remained with them until sold to Millardair (C-FDTV) in1975. After Millardair ceased flight operations in 1990, the registration was cancelled in September 1991. Later to California-Pacifico registered XA-RZF and XA-UDY.

Only a few weeks later, this aircraft was written off beyond repair making an emergency landing off Yellowknife's main runway, after a go around following an engine fire and with a prop which would not properly feather.

It was taking part in a mass fly-by of DC-3s over the Expo '86 site in downtown Vancouver as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first delivery flight of the type to American Airlines on 7th June 1936. After many years lapsing into dereliction condition at Rolla-Vichy Airport, MO., it has recently been moved by road to Montana where reportedly it will converted into B&B accommodation.

With the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland was dissolved in 1963, the Dakotas and Pembrokes of the RRAF were transferred to the Northern Rhodesia Air Wing which became the Zambia Air Force after independence.
