L7271 was sent to Belfast as Short Brothers prepared to start production of the Napier Dagger engined Hereford. The Dagger engine proved troublesome and many were converted to Hampdens with Bristol Pegasus engines. One site reports L7271 was lost over Libya in 1942 when being operated by 21 Squadron. It did not operate Herefords or Hamptons and Herefords never operated over Libya. L7271 was not production standard and is unlikely to have been delivered to an operational or even training unit. One of 32sqn's two Envoy IV CC1s, acquired in 2022 and operated from RAF Northolt. It is a pity that they carry a civil registration, but at least there is a roundel as well as Royal Air Force titles (on the opposite side, next to the door). The aircraft is seen here at Eindhoven performing a VIP flight for the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of operation Market Garden.

The Bourges was designed to be powered by the ABC Dragonfly but problems with the engines meant F2903, the prototype, made its first flight with Bentley rotaries as the Mk. IIA. The ABC engines were fitted later as seen in this photo. F2903 entered the civil register on July 1919, as G-EACE. It was scrapped in May 1920. The location of this photo is not given but may be Mousehold, where Boulton Paul had its works, or Hendon where the F2903 made its public debut. Photo from: Imperial War Museums
