Second serial was '6-3'. In 1951, the early delivered aircraft (incl. this one) were converted to FB.60, the export version of the FB.11. The aircraft was eventually scrapped. Location is possible Valkenburg, but I haven't been able to find confirmation. Photo from W. Muntinga

Desgined and built for the Dutch government for pilot training towards the end of WWI. Because of the neutral position during the war, the general public didn't see the aircraft until after the war, at the Eerste Luchtveerkeer Tentoonstelling in August 1919. The aircraft was flown until 1924, when they were replaced by other aircraft, including the Fokker S.3. Spyker ended up building 78 V.2's. This replica features an original Thulin engine from 1919, with which the real C16 was fitted.

'New aircraft-bomber for the navy.' The blunt tower of Ransdorp is seen in the background. Schellingwoude was a good seaplane harbour and Fokker seaplanes could easily get here from the old waterfront factory. Landplanes had to be moved to Schiphol by barge right through the Amsterdam canals until 1950. T-10 struck off charge at Surabaya, Java in 1940. Photo from: Amsterdam City Archives

Painted as 8-1, it is actually ex. WG752 which was bought from the Imperial War Museum in 1991. The real 8-1 was a Sikorsky-built S-51 and initally registered PH-MAA. Damaged in 1948 and 1950, repaired in 1951. Bought by the Dutch Navy, who applied the yellow livery and operated the helicopter between December 1951 and May 1959. Painted Sea Blue around 1955. After its active life it was sent to Fokker for rotorblade testing. She served as an eyecatcher at a car company from 1965. Likely broken up in Ede in 1969.

In 1918, a Hansa-Brandenburg W-12 got stranded near Rottumeroog. The aircraft was interned and studied by the Marine Luchtvaartdienst (MLD, now known as the Navy). The MLD liked what they saw and wanted to license-build the aircraft. A suitable factory was sought and eventually they wound up at Van Berkel, who was/is more known for their scales and meat cutting machines. In 1919-1920, a total of 35 aircraft were built. 15 of them stayed in the Netherlands, the rest went to the Netherlands East Indies. The real W57 (c/n 1) was built in 1920 and written off after a crash near Den Helder.

The Netherlands navy and the Netherlands East Indies air force received two Pander Ds each, although these small single-seaters were of little military value. These military Panders were fitted with a protective structure behind the pilot's seat. The navy's Fokker D.VII fighters similarly received protective headrests, but D-26 and D-27 do not yet have them here. Photo from: Nederlands Instituut voor Militaire Historie

Cool picture of D-20 and D-30 of the Blue Band Escadrille, a display flight. This name, with the English words, was likely unofficial, Blue Band being a margarine brand. Twenty D.VIIs served with the Dutch navy. Note headrests, fitted from 1925. Photo from: Nederlands Instituut voor Militaire Historie
