written-off at Malaga, Spain on 13 September 1982 after an high speed aborted take-off.

This aircraft was destroyed on 5th January 1970 when it crashed shortly after take-off from Stockholm-Arlanda Airport on an attempted three-engined ferry flight to Zürich for an engine-change. Tragically of the 10 occupants, five were killed and five others injured. Note DC-3 N139HH of Weather Engineering in the background.

Ex N5612, OY-ANL, N5604. Withdrawn from use at Palma de Mallorca in 1985, and scrapped there in 1994. The nose section is reported to be in use for crew training at Girona, Spain.

Built 1968 and to Eastern Air Lines December 19th 1968 as N8763 and ship 763. September 25th 1972 leased to Japan Air Lines until April 6th 1976. May 2nd 1976 leased to Capitol International Airways, renamed Captiol Air in Dec. 1981. December 25th 1982 N8763 returned to Lessor and stored at Marana in full Capitol cs. May 1st 1983 N8763 ONA-Overerseas National Airways, Dec 1983 National Airlines, and Oct 1983 Airlinft International, still N8763. Oct27th 1984 EC-DVB Spantax.. January 18th 1988 ZP-CCR LAPSA, January 2nd 1995 N853AX Airborne Express, converrted to Freighter opf ABX AIr. 2006 scrap

Delivered to Swissair as HB-IFK in 1968. To Spantax as EC-DQP in 1982 then to New York Air as N539TX and reregistered as N539NY in 1983. New York Air merged into Continental Airlines in 1987. Reregistered as N12539 in 1991, Withdrawn from use at Mojave, CA in 1999 and scrapped.

Sold back to American as N6843 on 19 Oct 1971. Sold to Spantax on 27 Jan 1972 as EC-BZO. WFU and stored at Palma Jan 1988. Last noted 02 May 2018. Cancelled in Nov 2020.

The Coronado was a great aircraft noisy and very fast but alas it did guzzle fuel. Luckily Spantax were happy to operate quite a large fleet of them for a number of years. Delivered to American 04 Apr 1962 as N5610. Bought by Spantax 5 years later on 19 Feb 1967 as EC-BJC. This aircraft was WFU at Palma in Oct 1979 and broken up in 1991. Parking next to B747-127 N601BN 'The Big Orange' from Braniff. Also in view a Britannia 737, 707's from BCAL and Dan Air, 5 Dan Air Comets and an HS748.

Delivered to Trans Caribbean Airways as N8787R in 1967. They merged into American Airlines then it went to Trans International Airlines in 1971. To Spantax as EC-CCG in 1973 then to UPS as EI-BPG in 1984. Reregistered as N8787R, converted to a DC-8-71CF then reregistered as N798UP in 1985. Withdrawn from use at Roswell, NM in 2009 and later scrapped.

On the main ramp at East Midlands operating a summer charter from Spain. Delivered new to Swissair as HB-IHB on 05 Feb 1973. To Spantax as EC-DUG on 09 Apr 1984. To Continental Airlines as N19072 on 20 Oct 1986. Arrived Mojave for storage on 01 Jul 2000. Broken up in 2007.
