The Coronado was a great aircraft noisy and very fast but alas it did guzzle fuel. Luckily Spantax were happy to operate quite a large fleet of them for a number of years. Delivered to American 04 Apr 1962 as N5610. Bought by Spantax 5 years later on 19 Feb 1967 as EC-BJC. This aircraft was WFU at Palma in Oct 1979 and broken up in 1991. Parking next to B747-127 N601BN 'The Big Orange' from Braniff. Also in view a Britannia 737, 707's from BCAL and Dan Air, 5 Dan Air Comets and an HS748.

Delivered to American Airlines as N5610 in 1962. To Spantax as EC-BJC in 1967. Withdrawn from use at Palma in 1979 and scrapped in 1991.

While awaiting delivery of its initial DC-8 Series 60, Iberia leased two Spantax Coronados: EC-BJC and EC-BQA. At least EC-BQA received a full Iberia livery.

Stored out of service with Spantax titles removed, reportedly broken up in 1991.

During March 1973, this Convair collided with an Iberia DC-9, and lost part of its left wing while landing at Cognac-Châteaubernard - CNG. The CV-990 managed to carry out an emergency landing but the DC-9 lost control and crashed. The damaged on the Convair was substantial but was repaired.

A magnificent seven Coronados, plus a DC-8 interloper. The others, from right to left are EC-BTE, EC-BQQ, EC-CDC (TAE DC-8), EC-CNG, EC-CHJ, EC-BJC & EC-CNF. All were broken up in 1991 except EC-BQQ which lasted a few more years
