It went to Korean Airlines in March 1977, with whom it became famous. On 28 April 1978, flying as KAL902 from Paris to Anchorage, the flight veered significantly off track and entered restricted Soviet airspace. It was intercepted and shot down by a Sukhoi Su-15TM. The crew made a successful emergency landing on a frozen lake not far from Murmansk.
Lining up for a 28L Heathrow departure this 707 was delivered to Pan Am in 1968 and served until it was withdrawn in 1980. It ended its days as N808ZS with Jet Cargo Liberia and was wfu at Monrovia in 1996. Scanned from a slide.
