At the time, the facility was part of a larger scientific and research campus. As the area around the campus became more developed, the less acceptable became was the roar of the Bristol Centaurus engine. The Sea Fury was acquired by the now closed Camden Air Museum. Force-landed near Charleville, Queensland, on November 6, 1942. Broken on site up for spares. Involved in a midair collision with A85-408 on approach to Point Cook on June 6, 1964. The pilot of -408 was unhurt but Bill Robertson in -441 suffered serious injuries. After a three year recovery period he returned to flying and became a highly decorated UH-1 Iroquois pilot during the Vietnam War, Robertson would rise the rank of Wing Commander.
