Crashed when control was lost during an asymmetrical approach to RAAF Amberley on February 16, 1965.

WD289 was transferred from the RAF to the RAAF for use in aeronautical research. It had been built as part of the Avro Vulcan program. Retired in 1963 and sold to a person who kept it in his backyard. Acquired by the RAAF Museum in 1999. Photo by John Hopton.

Crashed departing Laverton the next day, killing the crew. It was suspected the pilot attempted a climbing roll after takeoff as performed by an RAAF Canberra during the air show. However RAAF Canberra engines were fitted with fuel accumulators that ensured a fuel supply when inverted. USAF B-57 engines were not.
