The H-246 was a modern flying boat intended for the Mediterranean routes of Air France, and first flown on 30 September 1937. Seven examples built including one for the French navy. A few were confiscated by the Luftwaffe in November 1942 and used in Finland. F-AREJ and F-AREL turned Free French in Algeria, and surived the war to be used by Air France until September 1946. 489 Sqn was a RNZAF unit under the command of the RAF. It was attached to Coastal Command. The Hampdens were replaced by Beaufighters in 1943. After VE Day, 489 started converting to Mosquitos ahead of being deployed to the Pacific. With Japan's surrender, this did not happen and the squadron was disbanded. Photo from: Imperial War Museums

Named "Scarlett O'Hara", this early production C-53 Skytrooper takes off from an improvised desert airstrip. 26470 later served with the USAAF's India-China Wing of Air Transport Command. From Douglas 60 years ago.

This Super Electra was delivered to TCA on 12 August 1939 as CF-TCR. Bought by CPAL as CF-CPC on 1 July 1942 and sold on 17 November that year. Posed outside Dorval's then new bilingual terminal. Obtained from CPAL 60 years ago.
