Museum of Flight sticker / nose art below the cockpit

42-29782 had already been a war monument for several years when Max and John Biegert made it airworthy again as a heavy agricultural spraying aircraft, installing seven chemical tanks in the fuselage and two F-94 Starfire tip tanks underwing. Now standing in front of the Museum of Flight as a magnificent, quasi gate guard.

This is the only flyable B-17F left in the world, now preserved at the Museum of Flight in Seattle (a mile from where she was built in 1943) after restoration beginning in 1991 to original condition as 42-29782. A civilian career followed a post-war period in a public park in Stuttgart, AK began in 1953 and included crop spaying, fire fighting and appearances in three films, the last of which involved ferrying to the UK for the making of 'Memphis Belle' in 1989
