The original CF-AZM (c/n 4449) was a Waco QC-6 Custom purchased and operated by Grant McConachie, then President of Yukon Southern Transport and later CEO of Canadian Pacific Air Lines. It was lost through the ice of Watson Lake, Yukon in 1938. In 1983 Waco NC16520 c/n 4479 was imported to Calgary from Woodlake, California and restored to mint condition with new fabric and overhauled engine. After a special application, the re-use of registration CF-AZM to mark the previous aircraft was granted.

Built as a Harvard 4 by the Canadian Car and Foundry at Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario. Taken on strength with the RCAF with s/n 20273 in August 1952 and assigned to 4 FTS, Penhold, AB. Sold as surplus October 1964 and to Airdrie Aviation in April 1987 as C-FRUJ.

Acquired by the Canadian Ministry of Transport in the early/mid-1950s and repainted to an earlier livery from a basically silver/white top scheme after preservation in 1977.

Originally 42-108960 and registered CF-BZI in 1956. Written off while landing on 13th May 1971 in whiteout conditions at Somerset Island, Nunavut which is a large, uninhabited island of the Arctic Archipelago. The left main gear ski dug in when the aircraft touched down ahead of the runway and slewed it sideways causing major damage. It has been preserved at Calgary since the mid-1990s and some parts from C-FIQR c/n 11876 (which had also earlier crashed, in 1977) were used in its restoration.

from my collection, photographer unknown, built in 1944 the Skymaster was in service for the US Army Air Forces and the US Navy before civil operations started in May 1947 for Colonial Airlines as N93267, merged into Eastern Airlines in 1956, but sold on to PSA and in operation for them until April 1962 when it was purchased by Mercer Enterprises. To Canadian Arctic Co.-Op. in Dec 1969 and operated furtheron for Air Commonwealth as CF-QIX, later C-FQIX, damaged and w/o after a take-off accident at Thompson, Manitoba in June 1979, whilst operating for Aero Trades Western. Location is a guess.

Delivered 31Aug22 with sistership C-FLKO. Both of which now reside on Runway 26 in Calgary. C-FLRS is the latest MAX to be delivered but was in the hangar on this visit to YYC.

Originally painted and destined for SpiceJet in India, this Q400 now sits parked at YYC in arctic camo scheme awaiting a good home.

Delivered 31Aug22 to Flair and has been in storage in various places ever since. Now stored on Runway 26 in Calgary awaiting entry into service.

By far the most unique visitor was this Bonza 737 MAX which showed up the night before I arrived. It ferried straight from Boeing Field and has been sitting here ever since. Bonza is a new Australian ULCC startup which is part of the 777 Partners investment firm who also backs Flair Airlines. Note the unpainted LOT winglets which leave no questions asked as to who the original customer of the airframe was.

This rare example of a Percival Pembroke is one of the few remaining. It has an interesting history flying for the Belgian Air Force (RM-9) as well as Air America (N5964) and was involved in drug smuggling operations during the Vietnam Air. This aircraft also spent time in South America were it too was allegedly running drugs between Honduras and the US. This is where it acquired the white and red paint scheme. It was then stored at the Anoka County-Blaine Airport in Minnesota until it made its way up to Canada.

Sitting here since the 2018 collapse of Integra Air. If I can remember correctly, there were a few more Jetstream's sitting here but those have disappeared over the years.

Formerly with the US Army, and is now owned by Longview Aviation The Short C-23C is the military version of Short 360, and the "C' model features a full cockpit avionics upgrade over the standard model.

"Borek Air (KBA) 174 Trainer" returning from a training flight up to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

Owned by a private individual in Alberta lies a relic from the early 2000s. This Fokker F28 saw service up until it was unceremoniously retired on October 25, 2002 to Saskatoon. Saskatoon is still home to about a dozen ex. Canadian F28s which sit outside rotting in the prairie sun. Besides this one (YCR) which was purchased and moved to Alberta, two more are slated to be saved from the chopper block. Those being C-GTIZ and C-FTAV. TIZ will be going to another individual and TAZ will be returning home to Lethbridge, Alberta under the care of the Time Air Historical Society.

This third Dash 7 was used by the manufacturer for testing and certification flying from May 1977 to May 1978 as C-GQIW-X before delivery to Spantax as EC-DCB. Returned to DHC in May 1981, the aircraft was leased by Air BC in July 1981 as they rapidly expanded their IFR operations. It was returned to De Havilland in April 1989 as the airline was adding the BAe-146 to the fleet. Stored at Las Vegas, it was damaged in a hangar fire in March 1990. The aircraft was later parted out and scrapped.
